Looking and listening to your door while in use is the most important preventative step. Is it moving smoothly or is it jerky? Are there any noises, grinding or scraping? Do both sides of your door look symmetrical?
Hardware can loosen with the repeated up and down movement and vibration of the door over the year. Be sure to examine and tighten all brackets and bolts.
Inspect and replace the rollers. Inspection should happen twice a year and replacement will be needed approximately every 7 years unless your door is opened several times in a day and then replacement may be more frequent.
You’ll want to continue to keep the elements out of your house by replacing any brittle or cracked weather strip on the bottom of the door.
Make sure your garage door parts are greased up to add years of seamless operation to your system.
