Seceuroglide

Seceuroglide began in a garage in the northwest of England in 1985. After travelling to mainland Europe, the founder of Seceuroglide became aware of the convenience of compact aluminium roller shutters in domestic properties. He realised there was nothing similar offered in the UK domestic market. This prompted the establishment of SWS UK. The first Seceuroglide roller door was developed, and the industry standard was successfully established.

SWS UK has built a custom manufacturing facility based in Lancaster. Seceuroglide products are manufactured in Lancaster and offered throughout the UK via an approved distributor network. In 2019, SWS UK became part of the Stella Group, a French specialist in closure solutions. Manufacturing however, continues in the UK.

The Original Insulated Roller Door

The Seceuroglide Original was launched in 1997 as the first insulated roller garage door within the UK. Before this innovation, roller doors were single layer and uninsulated. Seceuroglide’s Original product resolved this by using a design of twin walled slats of aluminium that encapsulated a foam core. This provided insulation as well as structural integrity and security that uninsulated roller doors previously lacked.

Seceuroglide doors use webbing that reduces metal-on-metal contact compared to their competitors whose doors use metal webbing between the laths. Webbing is not significantly impacted by heat and cold, making this a good solution for unheated garages that experience temperature extremes in the UK.

Seceuroglide doors also use a patented locking mechanism that is built into the top of the curtain of the door rather than being added onto the door like most competitors do.

Excel — Police and Insurance Approved

The Seceuroglide Excel launched in 2007 and was the first garage door to receive the Police Secured by Design accreditation. Unlike the Original version of the door, the Excel required significant changes to be certified. The Excel is also the first roller door to receive insurance approval from major underwriters.

While the Excel is a more expensive option than the Original, the security benefits of the Excel make it a better purchase for areas with higher crime rates. The price difference is justified by the security of the door.

The Range

Now, in addition to Original and Excel, our current offerings include:

Classic — Standard Secured by Design, positioned between Original and Excel in specification. Compact — a low-headroom variant, the first of its kind in the UK, designed for garages where the coil box cannot be accommodated above the opening at standard height. Compact is also available with half or full box options. The Sectional — Launched in 2010 and designed with 40mm foam filled panels, available in Elite configuration up to six metres wide, covering the majority of commercial and oversized domestic openings.

All models meet BS EN 12453, the current UK and European safety standard for the operation of automated doors. Standard bottom-edge safety sensors are included. This is worth mentioning because many low-price roller doors available in the UK do not include sensors and are, therefore, reliant on an inadequate standard of a single infrared beam across the opening, creating a safety and legal issue for the installer as well as the purchaser.

SeceuroSense Plus

Built into the Seceuroglide range is SeceuroSense Plus, which integrates a courtesy light with remote and push-button control. It is a SWS exclusive and offers security features beyond basic receiver security. The unit was upgraded in 2018 to address some vulnerabilities in receivers of older units, which were of concern in the evolving security environment with relay capture devices.

Colour and Customisation

We guarantee standard performance in 18 paint finishes and more than 40 textured woodgrain finishes. Our woodgrain collection is broader than most, making Seceuroglide a great option where plain aluminum doors would be inappropriate in a given setting. Custom sizing is available up to 5400mm wide and 3000mm high, covering most UK domestic and small commercial openings.

Who Seceuroglide Is Right For

Seceuroglide should be the first consideration for anyone looking to buy a roller garage door. It is more expensive. But, it is the standard for assessment for this product category. The balance of UK production, guaranteed security, safety compliance of all products and a 35 year product history is a lot of substance to support the product even without brand loyalty.
